There’s a saying that ‘Attitude Is Everything,’ and that is one of my leading sayings that I live by. It’s so important to be intentional about what attitude you decide to bring into your day. And, yes, I did say ‘decide’ because I truly believe that people decide their attitudes. Keeping that in mind, know that attitude governs the way you perceive the world and how the world perceives you.
A question to ask yourself is what does my self-talk look like? What choices do you want to make for your inner dialogue? Do you see your inner life as one of self-pity and self-defeating thoughts? What a powerful thing it is to go into your day with the power of positive thoughts.
Repeated affirmations throughout the day can do a lot to bolster your attitude. Nelson Mandela has said that visualization helped him maintain a positive attitude during a 27-year imprisonment.
What not to do to begin a new day? Try not to get into a negative and self-defeating spiral. Pick a positive thought, even if it’s small, and allow that to be the starting point of a great day.
I recently saw an anonymous quote that sums up the power of a great attitude:
“A great attitude becomes a great mood, which becomes a great day, which becomes a great year, which becomes a great life.”
